Shortly
after John Ringling discovered Sarasota, Florida, the first circus
train rolled into town, and did so for the next 33 winters. Many
other circuses also made Sarasota their winter home and circus
folk became an integral part of the social and economic life of
Sarasota adding to the area’s unique identity. With his painted bronze CIRCUS HORSE, Frank Colson pays homage to the history of circus in Sarasota. Tina Christiani, famed bareback equestrienne with Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey, advised the artist on this enchanting piece, the first in a series of new bronze sculptures by Frank Colson.
