For millennia the Chinese have named each calendar year after an animal of their Zodiac. The year 2003 is the Year of The Goat. 

According to Chinese folklore, people born during the Year of the Goat are creatively gifted, intuitive, generous and admired. Frank Colson honors this ancient tradition, with his creation, The Magic Goat. 

This larger than life hand-carved wooden goat has been transformed into a stunning piece of original art. With horns and hooves dramatically enhanced by gold leaf, the Magic Goat is resplendent in pearlescent and ebony, wearing a colorful saddle with jester and silver bells. 

Many years ago, a family of German wood carvers emigrated to the mountains of Mexico. There, they set up their wood working shop much like they had in Europe. They became famous for their beautiful renderings of animals in wood.

Frank Colson was quick to see the opportunities for new expression in these beautiful carvings and his Magic Goat is the result.

Zodiac goats are graceful, mannered and charming. Colson’s artful creation expresses these same characteristics.
